Today was head shrinking.
I haven't been in nearly two months ... since my head shrinker is about the coolest person on the planet, I was excited to go - until we actually had to talk about head shrinking stuff.
And that is hard. And painful. And while being brutally honest with oneself is probably the best thing, it stinks. It makes one feel like a complete booger.
As is usual, she had some great ideas and thoughts ... and she told me how she applied them in her own life.
She talked about "The Work" - four questions by Byron Katie that helps one understand the motivation and power behind thoughts and beliefs. My final "homework" was to play the videos on the sitee - to see it put in play - and then to go to the library and get Katie's book, Love What Is.
I've watched some of the videos already (at the expense of not doing any cleaning tonight). I watched and listened and thought until my brain hurt and my eyeballs begged for something else. This might be the most useful thing yet - and the most difficult.
Love what is. What power do you give your thoughts and how do they translate into behaviors?
Wish me luck.
